Although Wordpress is one of the best blogging platform, it is still prone to comment spam. I use the Akismet (Automattic Kismet) plugin as my main defense against comment spam. Akismet requires an api key that you can get for free when you register at Wordpress.com. Akismet is free for personal use but if you’re making more than $500/mo from your blog, Akismet suggests that you use a $5/mo pro-blogger Akismet API key.
Akismet is just onw of the available means to control Wordpress comment spam. There are other plugins that you can use to protect your blog from those annoying comment spam.
